What are the main differences between CBD and HHC?

CBD, an acronym for cannabidiol, and HHC, an abbreviation for hexahydrocannabinol, are a type of cannabinoid that has been gaining popularity in recent times. They are derived from hemp and are quite similar in molecular structure to THC, the main psychoactive compound found in cannabis.

The best-known and most researched cannabinoid is cannabidiol (CBD), extracted from the cannabis plant and is sought after for its positive effects on pain, inflammation, improving sleep quality, skin, and relieving stress and anxiety. CBD oils and drops, capsules, cosmetics and CBD vapes are particularly popular, but the range of products is much wider.

HHC is only found in small amounts in the cannabis plant and is therefore produced synthetically from other cannabinoids or terpenes found in this same plant. The effects are still being investigated, but the effects known so far are relaxing and stimulating. The range of HHC products is already quite extensive, including, for example, HHC oils and drops, vapor foams, extracts, flowers and gums.

As we can see from the difference in potential effects, these two compounds act in vastly different ways, despite coming from the same plant species.

CBD
Most cannabinoids work by influencing special receptors located throughout the body. When receptors detect a cannabinoid, they interact and a biological reaction is triggered depending on the type of receptor, its location, and the cannabinoid in question. Therefore, CBD is said to have the potential to affect:
• Humor
• Appetite
• Immune response
• Sleep

HHC/THC
THC works in a simpler and more direct way, binding directly to receptors in the brain and digestive system. It is this interaction that causes the psychotropic side effects that we mentioned previously, such as:
• Increased appetite
• Reduced reaction time
• Poor memory and coordination
• Altered mental state
